Food recalls are issued when a possible health or safety risk becomes apparent. Tesco and Morrisons both shared urgent warnings yesterday, telling their customers to not eat two specific products.

Tesco’s Cottage Pie Baby Food is being withdrawn from shelves because it may contain small pieces of blue plastic.

The baby food comes in packs 190g in size and has a best before date of June 12, 2022.

This product is unsafe to eat because of the possible presence of plastic, which could be harmful and cause a child to choke.

Tesco has issued a customer notice to inform shoppers why the product is being recalled and what they should do.

DON’T MISS:

Tesco said: “Please do not use this product instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.

“Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”

The FSA has also advised customers on what to do if they have already bought the product.

The organisation said: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to celery.

Morrisons is asking customers to return the product to their nearest store.

The supermarket said: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.

“No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
