Aldi often takes inspiration from other popular brands, having launched both Greggs and McDonald’s dupes this week. The latest companies to influence the discount retailer are KFC and Nando’s.

Aldi announced this week that it has launched a new vegan range, perfect for families to enjoy ahead of the UK’s barbecue season.

Some products are already available to buy in stores, while more items will be introduced to the range in the coming weeks.

After undertaking a study to find out more about Britons’ barbecue habits, Aldi discovered that 47 percent of people lack confidence when it comes to catering for vegan and vegetarian guests.

The supermarket said that these findings led it to launch its own vegan friendly range, including vegan peri peri butterfly “chicken” burgers and more.

Inspired by Nando’s iconic Peri Peri Butterfly Chicken Burger, Aldi is launching its own version.

The discount retailer’s vegan equivalent to Nando’s classic item is hitting supermarkets soon.

Costing only £1.99, the new Vegan Peri Peri Butterfly Chicken will be perfect to serve to vegan and vegetarian guests at dinner parties and barbecues this summer.

Although the new burger is not yet available to buy in stores, Aldi launched a plethora of other vegan products this week.

One of these items is the Vegan No Spicy Chicken Burger, which Aldi customers have seen in stores before.

Inspired by KFC’s Zinger Burger, Aldi’s vegan burger costs £1.99 and was reintroduced to shelves this week.

Another product that landed in stores on Monday, May 17, was the Vegan Hot Dog.

Costing £1.69, the meat-free hot dog is just as good as Aldi’s original hot dogs but is vegan and vegetarian friendly.

Ms Ashfield said: “With the huge popularity of our Veganuary offering and the extension of our range over the past six months, launching more vegan products just made sense – and it’s an area we expect will continue to grow.

“We’ve just launched our Ashfield Grill BBQ range in time for more outdoor dining, and we want to make sure those following a vegan diet, as well as those choosing a more flexible approach to meat consumption, have a wide range of high quality options at great prices too.”

For meat eaters, Aldi has just launched another fast food inspired range.

The discount retailer’s “fakeaway” range includes a box of chicken nuggets, hash browns, and a Big Stack Burger, all of which are similar to McDonald’s original versions.
