The vegetarian hamper can be ordered online for the price of £75.

While many shoppers stated they are keen to try, some were concerned about the luxury price tag.

One wrote: “Looks lovely but a bit pricey. Just sell the veggie sausage rolls (the only item I have not seen in store) in store and I will happily make my own picnic.”

Another added: “It’s very expensive. Might as well buy the deli offer of three items for £7.

“Quiche, pack of Mexican chicken and a pack of sliced ham to make up rolls and sandwiches. The deli offer is good value.”

A third agreed, and wrote: “Was considering ordering this for an upcoming anniversary as a treat, but nearly choked when I saw the price!

“Sorry M&S, it’s a no from me. Can put it together myself with ingredients from Foodhall for about £30.”

Another also shared concerns over the price, and questioned: “£75! I’m not sure all the contents bought separately would add up to that?”

“Looks lovely but twice the price it should be – poor show M&S,” another stated.

However, others defended the price and stated they would pay more for the treat.

A social media user commented: “Better quality food is used in this picnic, I’d rather pay a bit more than get poor quality food from an ordinary supermarket.”

One more said: “Yes [it’s] expensive but how nice to get something a bit different as a treat, and usually it’s worth the cost.”

One Instagram user wrote: “I can’t wait to order”, while another added: “Picnic goals”.
